Backcourt and Wings: All systems go for the ball-handlers this afternoon. Which one will star? All? Tywon on a roll? Ellington back to Clemson form? Drew and Lawson are smart, Frasor and Ellington even moreso. They look like leaders to boot, all save the freshman Drew. These men look to stifle the canines in their traces.

Frontcourt: Once again, Danny Green is the One…but ogre is also looking mighty strong. He’ll be back this afternoon in the Royal Bovine Center you watch. Deon does appear to be remaining in the fumbling doldrums while his next in line, Ed Davis is still struggling with the more thoughtful aspects of the game but as far as spirit and agility…he’s a winner.

Overall: Brandon Costner and Dennis Horner look like trouble from the wings and a steady Courtney Fells brings game as well. Guard Farnold Degand is the playmaker and ballhandler the Pack will need as the Tar Heel guards swarm. Is he enough though? No, not a chance. Tracy Smith and Ben McCauley bring a lot of spirit to this tilt. In general the Wolfpack appear poised to play the Tar Heels tough for about 15 minutes…no more though. Who is the highlight reel? Hard not to find Ellington in the spotlight, though Danny Green is the most poised for such heroics.

This one’s over by halftime. Tar Heels by 18.

In the timbers of Fennario
the wolves are running round
The winter was so hard and cold
froze ten feet neath the ground
Don't murder me
I beg of you don't murder me
Please
don't murder me
I sat down to my supper
T'was a bottle of red whiskey
I said my prayers and went to bed
That's the last they saw of me
Don't murder me
I beg of you don't murder me
Please
don't murder me
When I awoke, the Dire Wolf
Six hundred pounds of sin
Was grinnin at my window
All I said was "come on in"
Don't murder me
I beg of you don't murder me
Please
don't murder me
The wolf came in, I got my cards
We sat down for a game
I cut my deck to the Queen of Spades
but the cards were all the same
Don't murder me
I beg of you don't murder me
Please
don't murder me
In the backwash of Fennario
The black and bloody mire
The Dire Wolf collects his due
while the boys sing round the fire
Don't murder me
I beg of you don't murder me
Please
don't murder me

I just can't stop.
Have not seen the line yet, but I would take y'all and give whatever the line is. This could get ugly fast.

Fixed.
I don't like that high intelligence score on Costner -- that is often what he seems to be lacking.

After the FSU game, it seems like the Heels will go one of two ways, psychologically, either find some mojo and take off as the dominating team we expected them to be OR continue with the self-congratulatory tainted efforts and stumble forward through the season like the '94 team did before them.

I hesitate to treat the State game as any measure of that response b/c of State's history of upsetting UNC no matter the vast difference in talent ...

the worse Carolina beats State, the sooner Lowe will be gone. it could come this year, more likely next

at some point in the not-so-distant future the next State coach will be able to look out far enough to see Williams [58]and K [62]retiring, 10 years +/- or so. whoever is in the seat at that point will have a chance of competing again. could be good timing with Sean Miller for State. the Pitt job won't be open any time soon and a lot of good jobs have been filled recently.
Can you imagine the epic meltdown the State fanbase would have if we hired Sean Miller after Coach Williams retired?
unless he's in Roy's class by then, which I doubt, that doesn't seem to be likley. IF Carolina goes outside the family, which I also doubt, it will be a major star

I'd put longshot money on Bobby Frasor today
Degand has his work cut out for him tomorrow. It's sort of intriguing to see whether Sid goes with the three bigs a lot again and what Roy would do in that case. Given our turnover tendencies, swarming our weak point (guard) would seem to make sense. Seems the play of McCauley and Fells could be very important in the (unlikely) event it's close.
I'll be surprised if Carolina isn't running layup drills. they turned the last two games with perfectly timed steals, several times against Clemson. the best part of Carolina's game right now is their defensive changes and traps which lead to turnovers. they're also getting teams to play faster than they should and generally ending up on the long end of that. Lawson is faster than I've ever seen him
^take your reverse mojo crap back to the pasture.

We're d00med.
This Deadhead really needed a new tune in my ear. Dire will do just fine! Thank you amigo.

Bobby does want to coach I hear SS.... and yes, no reverso mojo here!

We are soooo doooomed!
The rhythms look outstanding but they've been off. That said I'm pumped for this game. In Vermont at my sister's, poor brother-in-law a lone wolf surrounded by 5 Heels who've taken over his house this weekend.

GO HEELS!!!!

There's nothing wrong with his brain. He went into pouty-pants mode last year when Sid dared to play J.J. Hickson (you know, a better player) more than him, and he only now seems to be recovering.

I think we'll keep this close for 2/3 of the game and then you guys will go on a monster run somewhere around the 10 minute mark of the second half. That's how Duke and FSU got us, and Miami almost got us.

This stands out more and more:

Quote:Green 6/22/1987…P=95, E=20, I=95, M=95
Thompson 9 /16/1988… P=45, E=0, I=55, M=50
Hansbrough 11/3/1985…P=75, E=90, I=100, M=85
Lawson 11/3/1987… P=95, E=80, I=80, M=85
Ellington 11/29/1987… P=100, E=95, I=95, M=95

All Five starters at least with a 50 Mastery. Four of them at 85 or over. Tyler may absolutely explode today.
^ Sid may go with the 'bigs' line up to slow him down, let Costner shoot over Green, and hope your perimeter shooting is off.

Haven't really watched your team this season, so have no idea what to make of this.

Re: That article. Ryan Reid was called for 5 fouls. He committed at least 15 and all of them on Hansbrough. There were probably another 10 uncalled hacks of Tyler as well. No doubt if this is the way games will be called from here on out Hansbrough will not be able to play to his skill level nor potential. There was definately a strategy of roughing up Hansbrough, and UNC overall...no matter the consequences. It almost worked. Whether such a thing will work in the future remains to be seen. The thug ball will most definately beat us this year.

I miss Alex Stepheson.

I miss Alex too.
Heels need to make a statement and stop messing around today.

I am getting sick of them ballerina-ing with carolina jersey syndrome.

Now its time to finally get serious.
Did not miss the score by much!!
