I know there is a fastball, slider, splitter and changeup. I'm pretty sure he has a curve too.

FWIW, my prediction is that he's damn near unhittable for at least one trip through the league.
I thought they claimed eight.

I don't know if it is true or not, but I thought I heard them say he was used to pitching on six days rest. Is that true? I figured he would be impressive the first time through also, then wear down some in the heat.
I think that's how they do it out in japan. Apparently in japan the pitchers also practice on their days off or something...he's gonna have to change his way of thinking...
Don't forget about the gyroball...

Akhenateni
Yes, in Japan they have six pitcher rotations.

Wayne, he's significantly altered his routine and continues to do so. That said, he still throws a lot more than the average ML pitcher on off days.

He's not a big guy like Clemens, but he does have huge legs and generates much of his velocity from there. Even with his throwing regimen as-is, I don't think he'll have the arm problems someone like Pedro Martinez has had.
so who pitches for the Sox today?

he's looked pretty good, but it is the Royals.
Someone with the Royals must have decided it was best to swing on every first pitch, the result being every batter starts out in the hole. Strange, but that may explain their record the last few years.

Once he gets ahead in the count he is too tough for them.
A lot of K's for Spike today.
well, he only needed 108 today.
I've never seent the guy, but he can have 6 pitches and 4 arm angles for each pitch. So maybe 24?

So even with 108 pitches, a batter rarely sees the same thing twice, even with 3 ABs.

I'm theorizing, but if true, it's intriguing, though I'm sure Maddux, Catfish Hunter, Junkball Jamie Moyer and a bunch of other control guys worked this angle. I think this is the way Zito is approaching his game, given he's never had much more than a 90 mph fastball to mix it up, and with age and his workout regimen, will not increase.
dice-k also has a 96 mph fastball with his arsenal. that's what will make him dominant for a long time.
Does he throw a screwball?

He throws a changeup that he can make break in on righties. It's essentially the same thing.

Bane, he can get up to 96 but is generally at 92

I thought the full fledged Carl-Hubbell-twist-your-arm-like-a-pretzel screwball was more of a curveball that broke the opposite way than change with some sort of cut.
