Simmons just wrapped up the most prolific career in Smoky Mountain history.
Quote:He set a NCHSAA record for career rebounds (1,554) and also finished as the all-time scoring leader in Mustangs' history (1,916 points).
The 6-foot-8 forward was named the Western North Carolina Athletic Conference Player of the Year after averaging 25 points and 16.9 rebounds a game this past season for the WNCAC champion Mustangs (26-1).
He had a total of 25 double-doubles and shot 89 percent from the free throw line.
Gotta love a kid that good being willing to take on the challenge of walking onto a loaded Carolina frontcourt. And he shoots nearly 90% from the FT line.
I'm going to be surprised if he doesn't get at least a few minutes of non-garbage-time playing sometime this next season. However that turns out, though, that kid's gonna learn a lot very quickly in practice.
used to be a player like that stood a good chance of becoming a key player if not a starter back in the days when players stayed to be juniors or seniors. it was more difficult to recruit the biggest stars when there were already several on the roster. with the advent of the one and done it's easier for the Duke's, Carolina's and Kentucky's to get the top 10 players more often because there's more openings, and a guy like this will have a hard time beating out a Harrison Barnes regardless of his year. but it's a smart move anyway for him for a lot of reasons
you are free to point out which two-star players have been starters or even played significant roles for Carolina in Roys tenure. here are all the recruits:
http://northcarolina.scout.com/a.z?s=78&...bb&yr=2011
what you will find is none, as I suggested, and also several four-stars who transferred because better, younger players stepped over them. few teams can recruit like that.
eventually you will admit this just like you admitted Carolina needs to improve its 3pt shooting. it will porobably take several repetitions of seeing the facts though, as usual
it's still a smart move for both Simmons and Stillman to go through one of the top five programs and not play much than to play at a Western Carolina
so, tell us which two star players have played key roles for Williams Carolina teams
(I suspect I can add this to the list)
Woooooooooosh(as usual)

the closest you might come is Wes Miller, in a rare year when Carolina did not have a five star PG. the next year, his senior year, he was replaced by freshman Ty Lawson
it's still a smart move for these guys to play four years at Carolina. it's a virtual masters degree and guaranteed entry into college coaching if the wish and a great education
Stop! You're killin' me!

better you don't attempt to disagree again
pretty sure he will get a scholarship in a year or two with numbers like those, especially if he works like he sounds like he wants to. Perfect recruit when you will have one or two and dones all the time
speaking of western NC - whatever happened to JD Prof? I was just feeling like we were starting to build a rapport.
jws sure is good at amusing himself
I understand Bullock is thinking about transferring due to concerns over playing time.
^ I wouldn't joke about that. getting to be a mighty long roster of very talented players, particularly on the wing. Bull-Lock might want to bulk up and work on his rebounding. he's 6-8 and could be a versatile player

Ain't our lupinoid-boy a hoot?
Alternate reality at it's finest.

OK. I am really starting to think supersport is a joke put on by jws or psychoT.
what is a bull-lock and at 6'8'' where has he been?

No one could make Supersport up. I don't think anyone else's mind is capable of working the way his does.
He and Ken Kesey hung.

That would require some serious glue-sniffing.
you tell me what the wings depth chart is:
Barnes
Strickland
McDonald
Bull-lock
Watts
Hairston
that's 80 minutes at SF and SG, - at least 60 for Barnes and Strickland, = at most 20 for McDonald, Bull-lock, Watts and Hairston
and the way McAdoo shoots he could play SF, which he will in the NBA
so, I wouldn't joke about tranfers over PT concerns. it's not like to doesn't happen at Carolina. in fact it just did. I didn't bring it up
You can't make this up...
wait. I was wrong. it could never happen at Carolina

McAdoo is looking pretty ridiculous and he will be an NBA 3. Its good for him to get time at the 4 in college, but he could very well be league next season.
As far as the 'jam' at the 2 and 3, forgetaboutit. None of them are going anywhere - all have plenty of hoops to play at UNC if they work hard.
plenty of minutes to go around.
edit - on reflection the jam is at the 2, but these guys need to earn their minutes. It'll be aw-ite
With the Coaching Hire of the Century lurking just down I-40, I'm deathly afraid that some of our wing players will want to transfer to Rawlee forthwith.
... on the other hand, maybe the Greatest SEC Coach of All Time will be too busy boinking those vivacious MooU co-eds to concentrate on luring Roy's players away from Chapel Hill.
