Gimme your three favorite songs of all time. They can be anything from any genre.
Here's mine:

3)"Before The Next Teardrop Falls" - Freddy Fender

2)"You'll Never Walk Alone" - as done by Elvis

1)"The Way We Were" - Streisand

...don't judge me!
Fred finds this a difficult task, but will go with the following three (in no particular order):

"An American Trilogy" by Elvis
"Sunshine of Your Love" by Cream
"In The Mood" by Glenn Miller
Live Like You Were Dying - Tim McGraw
Hallelujah - anyone
The Change - Garth Brooks
A Pirate Looks at Fourty---Jimmy Buffet

You Never Even Called Me by My Name--David Allan Coe

7 Bridges Road--Eagles
It's an impossible task to pick three songs and declare them to be my all-time favorites. Tomorrow my mood may be different and I'd select different songs. But, here are three that I think are all-time greats and not necessarily in the order posted.

Ride Away - Roy Orbison http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stvX8Hd2ywY

Broken Hearted Melody - Sarah Vaughn http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IF_bzOXa_...re=related

I Was the One - Elvis Presley http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiDHhsMyJhw
Whole Lotta Rosie by AC/DC
Little Guitars by Van Halen
Kashmir by Led Zeppelin
Mickey (Spanish Version)- Toni Basil
Karma Chameleon- Culture Club
Der Kommissar- Falco (Don't even mention that ripoff English version by After The Fire unless you want to come to blows)

Rick, I thought you would have included the Pack Fight Song since you hear it so often at the football games, what with all of our scoring and all................ Smile
rick, Gimme Shelter is DEFINITELY in my Top 5!
OK, being serious now.

Little Wing-Jimi Hendrix
Whipping Post-The Allman Brothers
Morning Dew-The Grateful Dead
Let It Be - Beatles
Southern Cross - CSN
Crazy - Patsy Cline
Mother-Pink Floyd
American Pie - Don McLean
Crazy Train-Black Sabbath
What's that song about the man that never had time for his boy? And then all the boy ended up wanting was to borrow his dad's car keys?

I like that one A LOT!!!

I like that one A LOT!!!

Cat's In the Cradle-Harry Chapin
Thought about listing it actually - good one to have on the iPod in case you ever feel too busy for your kid.
Damn, forgot about Southern Cross. As another poster said, this could change daily.
You are SO right! I have already read two or three of you guys' selections that are 'pod worthy'.

Here's another: The Sound of Silence - S&G
Wow, this is a tough thread. My choices today (because it changes daily) would be:

Bridge of Troubled Water- Simon and Garfunkle
Leader of the Band- Dan Folgelberg
Can't you see- Marshall Tucker Band
Rolling Stones version: "Its All Over Now"
The WHO: "My Wife"

and, lastly having lived in D.C. for so long,

Ry Cooder's: "Bourgeois Blues"

This is a very tough question. I am sure if I posted tomorrow, three more might pop up.

"Gonna take a freight train,
down at the station,
Lord, I don't care where it goes.

Gonna climb a mountain, the highest mountain,
but gonna jump off nobody gonna know.

Can't you see, whoo Can't you see,
what that woman, Lord, she been doing to me.
Can't you see, Can't you see,
ah what that woman, she been doing to me.

I'm gonna find me, a hole in the wall,
I'm gonna crawl inside and die.

Come a later now,a mean ol' woman,Lord,
never told me goodbye.

Can't you see, Whoo, Can't you see,
what that woman, Lord, she been doing to me.
Can't you see, Can't you see,
ah what that woman, she been doing to me.

I'm gonna buy me a ticket now,as far as I can,
Ain't a never coming back.
got me a south bound, all the way to Georgia,
now,
till the train a run outt'a track.

Can't you see, Lord, Can't you see,
what that woman she been doing to me.
Can't you see, can't you see,
what that woman, she been doing to me."

Yeah, that right there pretty much says it all.

One - U2
Romeo & Juliet - Dire Straits

(props to the Kathy's Song reference - lovely song)

Albums:

Might replace How Great Thou Art with "By Your Side" by Sade. If you've never heard that song - it is something else.
