Wow--armed robbery, kidnapping assault. Bail set at $450,000, so it sounds like he's in pretty deep. Forget the rivalry, I hate this for Sidney. He seems like a good guy, and it sucks that he'll have to deal with this.

Terrible news for the Lowe family. Hopefully there is some sort of misunderstanding.

But edit to add that early indications are not promising.
i'm hoping it is definitely a misunderstanding, but it sure doesn't look like it.
hae to hear this news, so many kids end up going bad these days. Let's hope he can get his life straightened out again.

Bummer for all involved.
someone alert ipack
god, i hate that. good luck to his family.
Yeah, it's pretty stunning. Hope something positive can come of it, but it sounds bad. Hate it for Sid & Wolfpack nation. It shouldn't reflect poorly on them, but every time it is mentioned they say "... son of Wolfpack coach Sidney Lowe".
Just to be utterly crass about this for a moment, this is not a story that I would think would be helpful on the recruiting trail; more to the point, it is the sort of story rival recruiters will be happy to pass along to the mothers of potential recruits ... yeah, Lowe seems to have something going, but, you know, I don't think he's focused on the education side of things, you know, given his own history of getting an on-line degree 25 years after he left school and, unfortunately, while he may have good intentions and all about looking after your son, you know he couldn't even keep his own son out of prison ...

Is that fair? No, but there are some very negative recruiters out there, or so I have heard, and this can't be helpful.
>>someone alert ipack <<

If this was Roy's or Butch's son or ANY UNC coach's son, they'd be frothing at the collective mouth at this one and there'd be a 25 page thread screaming about how horrible we are, etc. etc. ... ipack's "list" (aka a libelous p.o.s. list) would be front and center.

That being said, this is very sad and I hope that things can work itself out one way or another.

What is ipack?
the ndot authority on all UNC criminal activity.
ipack is a prince
well my son, lived in weil last year, and is friends with the people that were "kidnapped" on the 16th and if SL jr. is the person that hit one of the victims of the robbery with a bottle(that my son said was a huge bong actually) that kid nearly bled to death while they were being relieved of their valuables. so even though i wish the best possible for all involved... there are victims here and they are glad the violent criminals have been caught. weapon of choice for these guys was an AK47. apparently it was quite a spree.
the *i* is most likely for inferiority complex; his continual rants as to why he feels compelled to forever update and repub his list displays and inner turmoil that would delight the Freudian Institute. it could of course, simply stand for ignunt fool.
I'd prefer we act better than them on this one. The young man has enough problems as it is.

Some "heard" info: they went to rob a (their?) pot dealer, whom they knew to have a large amount of cash on hand. Judging from the charges listed, it appears they also stole his pot and then were charged with possessing it. He was not the triggerman though.
I am fairly sure that 99% of us would not make hay on our board if this was Roy Jr. Something like this transcends the every day give and take we all like to give.

It does appear that this is going to be bad news for Jr. and if he did do it deservedly so. And yes, I am sure those on the recruiting trail will make this part of their pitch.

Oh well.

agreed. the mods wouldn't allow that anyways.
innocent until proven guilty
I certainly wouldn't wish this on Sidney Lowe, or anyone else for that matter, but my heart doesn't go out to Sidney or his kid; my heart and my prayers go out to the victims of these stupid, senseless crimes.
Bane - well said. You kick arse, but that goes without saying. Smile

I can't imagine what Sid's going through - as a parent you always want what's best for your child and you want to protect them as much as you can from situations like what may have happened. Prayers for all involved ...
Any word on what the Pack faithful---(3 categories here folks, the largest of which is the "bright loyal follower" grouping--also, however, would be the "I won't be satisfied until we win 3 straight somethings, not sure which, but something" and finally that small but vocal "Deeply Demented Faction")---is saying about this horrible mess?
what i can't understand is why he would put himself in the position he has? it's not like he comes from a lower income area where he would be more exposed to this type of thing.
Dollars don't buy sense.
