this story is gaining steam.

***From WRAL:
"Fallout is sure to continue from last week’s cheering in the Lawrence Joel Coliseum media room, reported here first, that followed Duke’s NCAA loss to Virginia Commonwealth . Others on the scene subsequently wrote about the unprofessional display, and word filtered back to Duke folks, many of whom were in Buffalo while UNC-oriented media types and other, supposedly unaffiliated journalists celebrated the Blue Devils’ defeat.
The outburst at Winston-Salem may reflect changing, or rather eroding, standards in journalism, in sports and beyond.****

Al Featherston also mentioned it last week:
***Last Thursday night, as Duke was fighting for its NCAA life in Buffalo, a curious scene played out in the makeshift press room under the stands at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum.
A number of prominent national writers, on hand for the NCAA first-round games in Winston-Salem, looked on in amazement as the bulk of the North Carolina media watched the Duke-VCU game play out on the televisions scattered around the work area. It wasn’t their interest that surprised the out-of-towners - that’s to be expected. What shocked the writers from Boston and Chicago and New York was the blatant anti-Duke bias exhibited by writers who make their living covering the ACC.
One non-aligned writer reported that when Eric Maynor sank the jumper that killed the Devils, such a roar went up in the press room that it could have been heard in the main arena!****
Ken Tysiacs who writes for the observer had a blurb on this in the paper last week. I (he did not go to any Big Four schools FWIW)
from Ken Tysiacs-----"
- I used to think Duke and N.C. State fans were paranoid for thinking the
media were biased against them and in favor of North Carolina. After
watching unprofessional media members cheering against Duke while watching
its loss to Virginia Commonwealth on TV on Thursday night, I realize that
the Duke and N.C. State fans have a legitimate gripe."
Jeff Goodman of Fox Sports had this on his blog:
Anti-Duke
So, I was watching the Duke game on TV in the media room in Winston-Salem prior to the start of North Carolina's game against Eastern Kentucky.
There is a no cheering rule in the press box and media room, but evidently it doesn't exist down here in ACC country.
There were a couple of vocal guys outwardly cheering against the Blue Devils in their loss.
