Barton College in Wilson, NC won the Division 2 championship today on one of the most amazing finishes ever.
Barton was down 5 with about 25 seconds left. Barton scores, now down 3. Steal the inbounds pass, and gets fouled while making a shot. Barton player misses what could have been the tying free throw. They foul a Winona St. player. Winona St. makes one and misses one free throw. Barton player makes a layup with 7 seconds left to tie it. Winona St. throws it in and the ball gets punched away fron behind at midcourt. Barton throws it ahead and the guy lays it in with .1 on the clock. The description doesn't do it justice, you have to see it.

I turned it off when they were down 5. Turned it back on just as soon as it was over..........what an amazing job!!!

Anthony Atkinson just had the most incredible 45 seconds in NCAA history.

High School buddy of mine (who went on to be an assistant for Valvano) was a star at Atlantic Christian back in the late 1970s. I went down there and scrimmaged with the team some the summer after I graduated from High School. The first time I went I was introduced to a guy name of Speedy. He was on the other side and he was my man to check. That's pretty much the last time I saw him. I learned why he was named Speedy right then. Turned out he was All-Dixie Conference.

And wasn't Winona St. on like a 57 game win streak? Congrats Barton!
