classic. i love some of the comments i see on right wing blogs: as long as he brings down their political enemies they don't care how he does it. ah well, they're sons of republican attorneys, they'll skate and become even bigger heroes to the right. i wonder if he was raised to think he could get away with murder?

Pretty stupid gambit, US Attorney's son no less. This is no college prank, and they will probably be punished and should be.

They probably got the idea from that Fla couple who gave that Democrat Congressman McDermott illegally obtained phone conversations of Pub colleagues. The Dem Congressman promptly released the illegally obtained recordings to the press. There was a lawsuit over it.

Here is an article

Stupidity and law breaking know no specific political party, as both share in a long history of law breaking, dirty tricks and unethical behavior.
Quote:James O'Keefe
O'Keefe came to fame last summer when he and his colleague Hanna Giles dressed up for Halloween early and walked into ACORN offices nationwide pretending to be a hooker and a pimp seeking tax advice, thereby blowing the lid off the sordid scandal that was ACORN's free tax advice to people pretending to be hookers and pimps. The sting was tightly coordinated with the launch of Andrew Breitbart's BigGovernment.com and promoted beyond saturation by Fox News, which heralded the pair as the conservative answer to 60 Minutes. We've asked Breitbart whether O'Keefe and his pals were on assignment for Big Government when they were arrested, but haven't heard back. The Washington Independent's David Weigel says his sources are saying they weren't.

And, of course, Fox News, which was one of the outlets that pushed hardest to turn O'Keefe into a folk hero, is taking the position that this Landrieu office incident is a story "that probably needs a lot of context and a lot of looking into" before anyone jumps to conclusions.

if i hadn't already mentioned, you can include breitbart as one of those links i'll never click on.

faux news devastated by arrest of ACORN pimp

if it's in the least bit critical of a republican you can almost bet stamp won't comment on it.

Right, but you'll post a thread with a link to the Huffington Post with a straight face.

As for this guy, I'll always be grateful he further exposed ACORN for the vermin they are, but I'm equally pleased the law caught up with him in this case.

you're funny. i think posted a link to HUFFPO once, but you pretend as if i live and die by it, like some do faux. i am well aware that it is an entertainment site, as is gawker. trust me, if i need to back up an argument with some facts, i'll look elsewhere.

Boiled down to its essence, ACORN is a rag-tag advocacy group for low-income Americans, the least among us. Sure, there are miscreants among them, but to refer to the group itself as "vermin" is, imo, the most despicable kind of elitism.

Completely uncalled for. So can I say that if it's the least bit critical of a liberal, you can almost bet that you'll attack the messenger, attack the source, or otherwise dismiss any consideration of the issue.

I think that's a good description of how they started out, but that's not what they are now.

How about they're run by vermin? Is that better?
Yes, dark people Rolleyes

i lifted that directly from a quote stamp made yesterday. as someone who started many an outraged!!11 thread about ACORN he is conspicuously absent from this thread. you can say whatever you want but i've been critical of a liberal on this board in the last 24 hours. i guess you missed all of that.
mama,

From October 2008. NYT.

Senate and House block funds. NYT

Don't know anything about this site, but they've compiled a list. Assuming the list is factual, pretty damning.

There's much more out there if you care to google it. I included the Times because they're hardly "conservative." I don't have all day to provide links. You can decide for yourself.

They're a minion organization for Democrats. Fraud and/or allegations of fraud follow them everywhere. They masquarade (relatively successfully) as what sunny described above. I actually can see where they do a lot of good, but I don't want taxpayer money going to what amounts to a collection of Democrat toadies. And with a DOJ that refuses to prosecute Black Panthers wielding weapons outside of polling stations, I doubt that any investigation, regardless of merit, will actually go anywhere.

But that's politics for you. Happened during BushCo and it's happening now.

thanks for posting, i'll check out the links later. i think i agree about tax dollars, shady or no, as i don't think ANY political organizers should receive tax dollars.
Surprisely candid news story about this phone scheme

This reads about the same as all the other stories on the incident.

you have the option of staying out of it. now excuse me while i put you on ignore, as all i've got from you in the last year is pissiness. hardly worth it, and by all means do the same with me, or continue to chase me around with your pissiness, either way.
Good for you, mama. No need to put up with that. In fact, I think you've found a solution to the board's problem (if the techies can find a way to figger it out): let each poster have an Ignore Me function that they direct toward the posters who have the tendency toward stalker-like or other obsessive responses.

interesting idea.
Is that contributing to the betterment of the boards, as y'all seemed to hold Tag responsible for?

How can I stay out of it? You hypocritically complain about others for doing virtually the same things you do and make the board a nasty runny poo place in the process.
this gets more fascinating as the day goes on. as someone pointed out, how did they think they would get away with such a thing? eventually, if they pulled it off, they'd have to admit that they were responsible for getting whatever information they were seeking. or not take credit for it, which is not what breitbart is paying them to do. they really got in over their heads messing with the feds and i can't wait to see who else is involved. if they get off lightly there could be a whole lot of copycatters, so it will be interesting to see what happens. dum dums.

And what exactly are you doing for the betterment of the boards? Looks like your idea of betterment is this kind of behavior.
