While I hate to see him leave b/c I really thought next year he could become the "guy"....I just dont know if he ever bought into the system....That said, I dont think many expected him to stay after last year.

Not that it will stop the idiots from saying otherwise, but this from goduke.com:
Quote:DURHAM, N.C. - Duke forward Josh McRoberts has declared himself eligible for the 2007 NBA Draft that will be held on June 28 in New York City.
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunities that I have had here at Duke,” said McRoberts. “This was a difficult decision, but I feel it is the best one for me and my family at this point in time. I will miss Duke, the coaching staff and my teammates but it has always been goal of mine to play in the NBA.”
"In the past couple of days, I've had the opportunity to meet with Josh and his mother," said Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski. "We had great conversations and we are 100 percent behind his decision. Josh has been a terrific player for us for the past two years and he will be even better in the future as a professional. Based on our information, it is time for him to move on to the next level and we are ready to help him in any and every way during this process."
During his sophomore season, McRoberts was Duke's second-leading scorer (13.0) while also leading the team in rebounds (7.9 rpg.), blocks (2.5 bpg.) and field goal percentage (.502 – 164-of-327). The Carmel, Ind., native was also second on the team in assists (114) and tied for second in steals with 39. McRoberts, a second team All-ACC selection, was the only player in the NCAA to average at least 10.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 3.5 assists per game this season.

K wants Patterson. Best of luck to Josh. I think he will do well in the NBA if he can find the right spot.

Now Tubby is leaving UK!
I wonder if, combined with Josh's announcement, this will help Patterson make a decision?

Interesting day in sports. Good luck Josh.

IMO UK is in trouble. I'm not sure how many recruits may leave, but doesn't the school need to release them from the LOI?
Best of luck to McRoberts, frankly I'm not sad to see him go. But that's my GT bias talking.

That's what basketball is...getting with the right team.

i'm guessing most duke fans are happy he is leaving.

Honestly, I dont know. I just wasnt sure about his desire this year. To be honest I dont know if Duke would have become better without him. Sometimes I got the feeling he just didnt care.
Anyone heard rumors about Pocius to Europe and Thomas to the NBA?

1) Unless Donovan is leaving Florida as well, Patterson's decision isn't changed at all by today's events
2) When Patterson isn't here next yr, we're going to see exactly how valuable Josh was to this team.
On the upside, won't it be nice when our leading rebounder next yr is a 6-3 guard?

Actually, I'm not happy about Josh's decision. But I know there is no way to influence it.... so it's just one of those things.
I do wish there could be some positive from it, like Patterson deciding to come to Duke next year.
Also.... I'm miss the "McRob's Mom" camera shoots between plays next year.

interesting...i just remember seeing comments in the game threads about how he just never seemed to "man" up in the blocks.

My daughter has one of those games where you have to put different shaped blocks into their corresponding holes. Even she doesn't blame it on the blocks when she tries to put them into the wrong holes. And she certainly doesn't recommend to them that they belong with a different set of holes.

personally, I'm glad he's leaving..his head just isn't in the college game, I'm one of those that thinks he's gonna be a much better pro than college player..and I seriously think next years team will be better without him..

^i gotta give you credit on that one ee.
i always thought the "man-up" slamming looked pretty silly in light of the above. kid's not a banger, but he managed to do a lot on the court despite being stuck out of position. Unfortunately for y'all, he won't have the opportunity to "do a Hurley" in the next 2 years. as for the NBA, i just can't care. if i were a player like him i'd rather play in Europe; but then again, i'm a weirdo.

They seemed to show Scheyer's mom alot more than Josh's mom.

Only because they thought it was Doris Day.

I think the kid has a boat load of talent. He seemed kind of immature at times. He always looked like one of those kids who would take his ball and go home. Maybe he did not buy into the way K treated his players. K expects/demands a lot from his players. It was kinda like when Sampson was at UVA. Terry Holland did not get in his mug at all. K needed to kick his behind, tell him he had the potential to take over games and bench him if he did not. Who knows, he may have done that. I remember a few games where he could not be stopped. I think he may suprise a lot of us in the pros. The kid can play. He may just need to grow up. We all tend to forget that these are just kids who have had their tails kissed ever since someone recognized their talent.

OK, I will comply but I am sort of confused so. Is the 1 week suspension from this board or from the ACC forums?
