Houston gets -> ATL Backup QB Matt Schaub

Atlanta gets -> '07 2nd rd pick and they will now assume the #8 overall pick, moving up from #10.

This means that (unfortunately) Michael Vick is once again assured of being da man in Atlanta. Schaub, IMO, will end up being a solid drop back passer in the league.
I don't know. Schaub has started all of two NFL games. Besides that, you have his work at UVA. Until the Texans figure out that no matter who you put back there, you need an NFL worthy OL, they'll probably struggle no matter who they have.

I predict Atlanta will get the better of this deal in the long run.

The contract Houston gave Schaub -- $48 million over six years-- that's pretty substantial for a guy who hasn't played a ton of football. It will be interesting to see where David Carr goes now.
Incidentally, rumors are that the Raiders pursued Jeff Garcia hard in free agency and also Matt Schaub in a trade. They didn't get either. Raiders coach Lane Kifflin was on the Fresno State coaching staff when David Carr was there, so he could be their next target.
I think Carr would actually be a good fit in Oakland. I know they also want Calvin Johnson (who doesn't?) and they probably have a good chance to get him.

I wonder how much of that money is guaranteed?
will the Texans upgrade trheir line this year? That's the question.
