The prospects are high. Are steroids injected into the thigh?
Wonder if the New Yorker would publish that?
Spring done sprung, fellow baseball fans. Right now, in the infancy of this new board there's a significant percentage of Tribe fans here, what with me and tam and all.
Questions to ponder:
Will the Yankees make a serious run?
How about the Cards--are they considering a move to the AL?
Why, tell me WHY, do southpaws have such longevity and advantage?
Have the bravos returned or is their decline still intact?
What of the O's, why must they labor so?
Is it normal to hate the bosox so?
The pale hose--I spit on them.
Like the twinkies though, just hope they trail in AL Central.
Let's get this forum moving a bit---I'll check back on the first of April to see if there's any response.

I'm not sure if some of the regulars on the baseball forum can figure out the registration over here.
Perhaps the weather has been too warm and nice around here but I find myself in an optimistic frame of mind about the tribe this year. Quite different for me I must say.
Not sure where the optimism is coming from.
Maybe it is because I have the exact opposite feeling about the Braves. I do not think things will be good for the Atl this year.
October is a long way off right now.
I share your optimism about the Tribe, tam; but then, as a long-time Tribe fan I'm used to optimism in the spring.
The Tribe has a good starting rotation; quite frankly, one of the best in both leagues. They are pretty solid 1-9, can hit and get on base with anybody, and I mean anybody. They're not particularly good defensively, still lack overall speed and the relief pitching, which should be improved is ALWAYS a question mark.
Where are our baseball board luminaries? Present company excepted, of course. Ya know, urch and BB and that stupd guy and mutter mutter...
No luminary here...just had to acknowledge tam's new avatar. Gamble had the best 'fro in the bidness back in the day.
What's sad is that I'm old enough to remember it the first time around.
Gamble? You mean this isn't cheerwine from his disco days?

I always pictured late 70's urCh more like this:
How do you imbed links? Me no likey this board.
My "sources" have informed me that the "barrister is question" will "probably" exert a presence here shortly after the "season" opens. Those same "sources" have indicated a desire on the part of the "barrister in question" to extend warm greetings to those here, and in fact specifically to one not here as of yet, often known as Bengal, and hopes that said "warm greetings" will reserve space in the hearts and minds of all present. In the event that "space" is lacking, as is often the case with older, more hardened or feminine types, well then, I have been instructed to say that "he will just deal with it later." Ok, I sorta made that last part up, but I feel that it's in keeping with the essence de emotionale (also made up) of this whole missive and the underlying intent.
Thank you, and, uh, go Tribe.
Waiting a few weeks to show up late? What a showman. d00d knows how to work a crowd, no doubts there.
I expect to hear that Elvis fanfare music when he enters.
where did this come from?
In other news, I have chanced upon boston wolf in the northern forums. I have invited him down to bring a little bosox banter this way. Now, the fact that he despises me or thinks that I despise him (not true) might be a fly in the ointment. It is his team that I have difficulty with. That, and practically all of the fans of that team. Anyway, I asked him if Matsuzaka really had 8 pitches.
74 needs to be here too. Isn't he a bosox fan?
And Sal, where's old Sal and those other Brave followers?
Quote:74 needs to be here too. Isn't he a bosox fan?
I think he is, as well as supporting the Nats.
If he hasn't turned up on his own by April 10, I'll make an effort to drag him over. Â
As to theSal, I have no idea how to reach him, but like you, feel his presence would benefit the board.
------
sitting in downtown DC, I'm in no state save confusion.
April 10th is my birthday. If all goes as planned I'll be in Fenway for the home opener.
And if I'm truly blessed I'll have tickets for the Matsuzaka/Ichiro showdown a few days later.
OK, now I'm a little peeved at 74.  I'm back and as that April 10 date is nigh, it was nearly time for me to take up the burden of action as per my post a few up.  In preparation for said effort, I used the many, varied and wonderful search functions available in these new fora, I checked to see whether he had registered in the interim.  Imagine my surprise to find that he had in fact registered back on March 28, only the very next day after Mr Fries and I were lamenting his absence and setting up plans to get him onboard.  But did he post?  Did he send a private message to let us know he had found his way and would start contributing here once the season had started, or the Masters was over, or the azealeas had bloomed, or the fish were running, or whatever.  Not no, but heck no.  Just sitting there in West -- --- Virginia, hoping we all go groveling to get him on this board.  Well forget about that.
I saw his name down there at the bottom one day.
